Children’s Ministries
We have many thriving children’s ministries here at Russell Memorial with lots of things going on for lots of very special children. Our children are nurtured within the boundaries of our church, and most importantly, they learn that God loves them. Come and join us—and bring your children!
Nursery
We have a safe, clean nursery provided free of charge for infants and toddlers up to 3 years. The nursery is available every Sunday during Sunday School and worship from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The nursery is also provided for Bible Studies, choir practice, and other special events on Sundays and during the week.
Children’s Message During our Sunday morning worship service usually about 20 kids come forward for the “Children’s Message.” When the pastor finishes his children’s message (around 11:15 a.m.), any child from 3 years old to kindergarten may be dismissed (if he or she wishes) to “Children’s Church,” which is held in our Fellowship Hall.
Children’s Church
While their parents are in “big church,” the children love this time of crafts, games, and music, which we always try to focus around a Biblical theme. This gives parents some quality time to worship (which the parents seem to really appreciate!).
Children’s Choir
We have a wonderful, well-organized Children’s Choir which performs in our worship service once a month. Children from 1st to 6th grades are encouraged to participate. Children’s Choir practice is every Wednesday from 5:30-6:00 p.m.
W.O.W.
“Way Out Wednesdays” are great fun for kids 1st to 6th grades every Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:30. We eat dinner, do crafts, tell Bible stories, play games, learn about mission, etc. W.O.W. meets every Wednesday in the Sowers building ( Methodist Day School ) on the church grounds.
Summer Camp
Every summer our children and youth grades 5-12 have the opportunity to attend church camp at Lakeview Methodist Assembly. They always have lots of fun and learn lots about God’s grace and love.
Day School
Our Methodist Day School offers childcare in a caring, Christian environment Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (drop-ins welcome). Our Day School also has a great preschool and pre-K program for 3- and 4-year-olds. To find out more about our Day School, click on the “ Methodist Day School ” link.
